Question: I keep getting unwanted faxes. i call or fax the number to be removed, but they still keep coming -?

Can I report those businesses? Are they breaking a law?

Most fax machines these days have a feature where-in you can block an incoming number from being able to send a fax in. This clearly is only applicable if the faxes being sent to you are coming from a couple of numbers. Take a look through the instruction manual for your fax machine and see if you can do this. Not sure about the legality issue. Maybe take a look over at the webpage for the "Do not call list " and see if it includes faxes. Good luck.

According to the site below, the Federal law governing the sending of unwanted advertising faxes authorizes a punative award of $500 for unsolicited fax, and $1,500 if the sender acted willfully or knowingly (i.e. had been contacted to stop). Depending on what state you live in, there may be a state law that takes this further.
