Question: Why does sex in advertising sell?

I just don't get it at all. Almost everywhere you look its half naked or even naked women (rarely men) advertising for all kinds of things that don't even have to do with sex, i could understand lingerie and stuff but for god sakes i saw an ad for a vacuum that was S &M. What are men (women?) thinking when they buy this stuff "Oh maybe if i buy that the hot girl will come with it? " i just don't get it and please no STUPID answers *looks over at the guys* >_ >

Sexual innuendo has been a marketing tool for, well, ever. Today, society is simply more promiscuous & permissive. It is really impossible to escape.
