Question: Should all advertising be banned except for the following information:?

Your logo / company name. The name of your product. Price of it No paid actors allowed. Just text. If you look at the advertising budgets of the Fortune 500 companies, it's like half a trillion dollars. This results in products being over- priced junk made in china and the only people getting rich are 500 CEOs and advertising agencies (the latter being the scum of the earth). Do you agree or not?

It would surely be more fair. Not only will less people be lied that way, but it would also be more fair for smaller companies, that offer better products. Not always the product with the better budget is the better. I agree with the first comment, however. There must be a short description. And on a side note, advertising is practically a kind of art. Some people are really good at it and one is not necessarily a scum if doing it properly. Other than that, advertising is a way to establish progress. If your ad says: "Buy our TV ", the other guys would just make another TV and try to sell it the same way. But if the commercial says: "Buy our TV, because it has HDTV, picture in picture and can bake cakes ", the other guys would try to make an even better TV. This, however means pro or against current advertising= pro or against the rapid speed progress is being made. Which can be viewed as not that good. But yes, kill the iPad! I hate overpriced junk just as much.

The person would at least need a short description of their product and what it does. After all, let's say your product is a vaccuum cleaner that you decided to call "Zoom ". How would anyone know what the hell Zoom was without at least a short description? And by law if it's a drug they HAVE to also list all the possible side effects of that drug too. So no, I don't agree with you. I'll agree that advertisements are annoying, but you can't advertise with just the info alone you provided.

My theory is that adverts help increase the average intelligence of the consumer ... Adverts also help us all avoid over-priced junk ...since the more an item is advertised, the poorer value it must be, even if only because the price you pay must also pay for the adverts ... ... and some can be REALLY funny .. remember the Peperami 'Bit of an Animal' ? (I mean, EXACTLY WHICH BIT do you think it could be :-) :-) ????)

First, that would violate the 1st Amendment. Second advertising pays for radio, TV, magazines,and newspapers. Be realistic.
