Question: What are the best free web statistics programs and how effective my advertising is?

I need to know who visits my website, how they found me, and programs that show how effective my advertising is. Any recommendations? Easy to implement like i add a script to my webpage kinda deal?

Google analytics gives detailed user activity reports, I believe you hook analytics up to adwords tracking codes. Tracking ad conversion from affiliate links is a bit convoluted, you add a tracking code to your affiliate link the sale report the returns the tracking code identifies your site/ page the click originated on. There's a commercial product statjunkie that automates a lot of the tedious spreadsheet work normally involved in tracking. Statcounter give ok visitor stats.
